Why Compliance Is a Product Problem

18 June 2026, Thierry Maasdam

Most companies meet a new regulation the same way: a legal memo, a spreadsheet, and a banner bolted onto the website at the last minute. The obligation is met on paper, and the experience gets worse for everyone.

We think that is a product problem, not a legal one.

Rules Are Interfaces

Every rule that touches a customer eventually becomes an interface. A consent choice becomes a dialog. A retention rule becomes a settings screen. A lawful basis becomes a database column someone has to maintain for years. When lawyers write the rule and nobody designs the interface, the interface designs itself, badly.

A good compliance product should be defensible in an audit and invisible in daily use.
